What customers say?

“ Stumbled in here right as I got into town and was blown away. The vibes are impeccable: gorgeous purple lighting, abundant rainbow flags, luxe seating, vibrant painted flowers on the walls. Feels so gay and so comfy. It happened to be happy hour, with their new menu of "surprise" $5 appetizers. Choose from options such as "salty & sweet" and "tiny sandwich." Delightfully fun and incredibly delicious! My server was the sweetest, and they concocted two unique cocktails for me based on my tastes. No detail was spared here — seriously, I was impressed with the quality of the *paper napkins*. I'm bummed I don't live in Victoria. I'd go here all the time. ”

“ Our group of friends visited Friends of Dorothy while our cruise stopped in Victoria, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of our trip. This review might be a bit of an outlier because our experience felt truly special and personal. We happened to visit while the owner, Rudy, was there, and he was incredibly friendly and welcoming to our group of eight. He immediately noticed how excited we were to be at the bar and decided to play a spontaneous round of trivia with us. The first two people to answer correctly won prizes. Kris got a t-shirt and Robert won a blanket! Rudy also shared the heartfelt inspiration behind the bar’s name, as well as the thought process behind the colors, flowers, and overall aesthetic. The decor is absolutely stunning. Every detail feels intentional, cohesive, and full of charm. It’s clear that a lot of love went into creating this space. One of the things I appreciate most about Canada is how LGBTQ+ friendly so many places are, and Friends of Dorothy is a shining example of that inclusivity. The bar’s Wizard of Oz-themed cocktails are not only fun but also delicious, and the customer service was truly top-notch. If you’re visiting Victoria, this spot is a must-stop. Our experience was joyful, affirming, and unforgettable. ”

“ From start to finish you're in for a real treat at this fab Victoria gem. You must come for the drag show every week. The host and guest performers put on one entertaining and delightful evening. Match this with some very nice food and excellent cocktails. You're in for an amazing evening bring everyone as this is an inclusive event. ”

“ Excellent cocktail and pleasant atmosphere, I will come back to try something else. I asked if it was possible to replace the tequila with mezcal in my cocktail but I was told that it would cost me $5 on top of the $17 cocktail, I found that really too expensive! Other prices on the menu are Little expensive too so happy hour is great! Food is good! ”

“ Similar review posted to Somewhere a Restaurant. I revisited today for Brunch as I have my Camera last visit to capture the great meals available. Previously, I had the Watermelon Salad (amazing), Breakfast burger, and breakfast pizza. The pizza was hilarious with two breakfast sausages laying on top of a tomato/cheese pizza. The burger came on roti which really worked well. Some of the plated options I didn't have looked very interesting. Today I did the Best Things Brunch (4 plates) and my friend had the Hootenanny and the Skillet (and three signature drinks). Yhe food was even more amazing than last time. Pleasant little place, Interesting decor. reasonably comfortable seating. I loved the artwork all of which had been upgraded to fit FOD. Last time the service was courteous, friendly and welcoming, but extremely slow with a lot of inattentiveness to customers - we were delayed by about an hour in a restaurant that started empty. This time was a complete reversal. The server seated us and a table of 3 and a table of 4 and took our drinks order within minutes, and processed our food order equally fast. A massive improvement earns an edit to the review. We were done eating and ready to go after about a hour. Great job on fixing our service concerns. Hope to see the same great performance on our next visit (which may become a weekly thing) ”

“ Wow! Quite possibly the most carefully and delicious cocktails that we've ever had. We stopped by on a quiet Sunday as part of the pickle pub crawl. The included appetizer was a bowl of yummy fried cauliflower. This entire pub is a work of art. We'd love to go back for a show. Friendly servers and clean bathrooms. Highly recommended! ”

“ An interesting evening out. Mina Mercury’s show was on point. Everything you’d expect from a late night drag show. Caught the kitchen just before it closed which was awesome because I was hungry. It was a nice satisfying burger and 0% alcoholic mocktail. I enjoyed it, the bartender was full of sass and I was here for it. I may caught another soon. ”
